IcmpV4Statistics.SourceQuenchesReceived Property

Definition

Gets the number of Internet Control Message Protocol version 4 (ICMPv4) Source Quench messages that were received.

C#
public abstract long SourceQuenchesReceived { get; }

Property Value

An Int64 value that specifies the total number of Source Quench messages that were received.

Examples

The following example displays the value of this property.

C#
public static void ShowSourceQuenchData()
{
    IPGlobalProperties properties = IPGlobalProperties.GetIPGlobalProperties();
    IcmpV4Statistics statistics = properties.GetIcmpV4Statistics();
    Console.WriteLine("  Source Quenches ..................... Sent: {0,-10}   Received: {1,-10}",
        statistics.SourceQuenchesSent, statistics.SourceQuenchesReceived);
}

Remarks

Source Quench messages are sent when a packet was discarded because of insufficient space in the output queue. A destination computer can also send a Source Quench message if packets arrive too quickly to be processed. The source quench message is a request to the host to cut back the rate at which it is sending traffic to the Internet destination.
