Hello!
I had to replace my motherboard last week due to a manufacture error, I got a new of the exact same model and its worked just fine.

The day after the motherboard was replaced i got the opportunity to update to windows 11 from windows 10, through Windows update.

Since then my system say that my Windows license need to be activated. When i try to activate it, it states that Windows cant be activated on the device followed by error code 0x803FABC3.

When i go in to options for "Activate windows after hardware change", i get a message saying Microsoft cant be reached.

I have tried - sfc /scannow, and checked system file integrity but to no help.

Any ideas how to fix this?

Best regard!

    Thank you for that information.

This problem is caused by Microsoft finally removing the loophole to allow the free upgrade from Windows 7/8 to Windows 10/11 on the 20th of September, it is no longer possible to activate Windows 10 or 11 using a Windows 7 or 8 product key.

HI, I am Dave, I will help you with this.

Where did you get your Windows licence was that pre-installed on the PC or did you purchase a full retail Windows licence from Microsoft or from a 3rd party retailer, and if so, do you have the product key?

Or is your Windows licence based on a previous Windows 7/8 licence?
