Word Online can't change the font style for Thai alphabet.

When creating a new Word Online document, I have no trouble setting the font style to Latin or Thai. The issue occurs when the file is reopened or the page is refreshed. Only the Latin alphabet will remain as it was previously set. The remaining of the Thai-based text was unreasonably converted to the Tahoma font. After shifting the Thai alphabet to Tahoma, the change cannot be reversed. If you attempt to change the font style, only the Latin alphabet will be affected.

The issue is that this problem happened only with Word Online. PowerPoint Online and Excel Online do not have these troubles. In addition, the Thai font appears to be Tahoma on the screen, but when the file is previewed prior to printing, Thai text appears correctly with the selected font.

I have attempted to use Word Online with Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and Mozilla Firefox and have discovered that the issue occurs with each of these web browsers. This issue affected both Mac and Windows.

Word Online is amazing. Please fix. This problem seems unusual because another online office has no similar issues.

    Hi chanon S,

My name is Tim and im sorry to see you’re experiencing problems with Word. I’ll gladly assist you today.

I would suggest this is an issue with the actual application of Word online. Due to being an online version of Word then you will not be able to repair it unfortunately.

I would recommend providing feedback to Microsoft incase they are not aware of the issue as hopefully they will resolve the issue soon.

Please accept my thanks for your time, advice, and solution. However, the actual issue occurred in a web-based application and not a desktop application. As previously stated, this issue persisted even after I switched web browsers and operating systems. BTW, I followed your instructions to the letter, and the problem persisted. Again, thank you for your advice. :-)

Hi, Chanon. Thank you for your question and reaching out. My name is John and I’d be more than happy to help you with your query.

I am sorry about that. Let's try running a repair.

    1. Right-click the Start button Windows, and select Apps and Features on the pop-up menu.
    2. Select the Microsoft Office product you want to repair, and select Modify.
    3. Depending if your copy of Office is Click-to-run or MSI-based install, you'll see the following options to proceed with the repair. Follow the steps for your installation type.

Click-to-run In the window How would you like to repair your Office Programs, select Online Repair > Repair to make sure everything gets fixed. (The faster Quick Repair option is also available, but it only detects and then replaces corrupted files.)

    1. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the repair.

    Best regards, John
