Dear Microsoft Support Team,

I created the email address [Moderator note: personal info removed]@hotmail.com in 2011. Unfortunately, my account was hacked in 2012, and despite submitting the recovery form, I was unable to regain access. The account has not been used by anyone for many years.

Although it has been 13 years since the last login, the account still appears to be active. As far as I know, inactive Hotmail accounts are supposed to be deleted after 2 years of inactivity. However, my old email account has not been closed.

I am concerned about the security risks associated with this situation and kindly request that the account [Moderator note: personal info removed]@hotmail.com be permanently closed.

Thank you for your time and assistance.

Kind regards,

Merve

Hello. This is a public forum; we cannot access or make any changes to your Microsoft account. Please avoid sharing personal information such as email addresses, phone numbers, or product keys.

About your issue, like I said before, we don’t have access to user accounts from this forum, so we can’t close or delete any Microsoft account on your behalf. Microsoft also won’t permanently close an account just based on a request, only the verified owner can do that after regaining access.

To do so, you’ll need to follow Microsoft’s recovery process. This is the official way to recover hacked or locked-out accounts and is handled directly by the Microsoft Account Safety Team:

    1. Go to https://aka.ms/recovermyaccount.
    2. Fill out the recovery form with as much information as you remember (creation year, location, linked phone or email, past passwords, etc.).
    3. After submitting, you’ll receive an email from msaccountsafety@microsoft.com within 15 minutes to 4 hours, containing your case number (starts with SIR).
    4. Check your Inbox, Spam, and Junk folders for this message. Once you regain access, you can permanently close your account by visiting: https://account.live.com/closeaccount.aspx

That’s the only secure way to ensure Microsoft confirms your identity before deleting the account.
