Welcome Kayra Enes,
Thank you for joining the Q&A Forum and apologies for the inconvenience.
I understand that you are facing an issue where your new Windows 11 laptop shows up as connected to Eduroam, but you can't access the internet. Since you've already tried some troubleshooting, here are some additional steps you can try:
1. Forget and re-add eduroam
Click Start > Settings > Network & Internet > Wi-Fi.
Click Manage known networks.
Select eduroam and click Forget.
Reconnect to eduroam by selecting it from Wi-Fi list and entering your credentials.
2. Sync your laptop’s time and timezone before reconnecting to Eduroam
Connect to another Wi‑Fi or mobile data
Sync your clock: Settings > Time & Language > Date & Time > toggle Set time automatically and Set time zone automatically
Once synced, reconnect to Eduroam with your credentials.
3. Remove the AdGuard private DNS
Go to Control Panel > Network and Sharing Center > Change adapter settings.
Right‑click your active connection > Properties.
Select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) > Properties.
Remove AdGuard DNS entries (like 94.140.14.14 / 94.140.15.15) and set to Obtain DNS automatically.
Tips: Some antivirus or VPN clients interfere with WPA‑Enterprise. Temporarily disable them to test. Also, make sure your Windows system is fully updated.
4. Check Authentication Settings and Trusted Root CA
a. Authentication settings
In the Eduroam connection window, click Additional settings or Advanced settings (appears after you try to connect).
Ensure:
Security type: WPA2‑Enterprise or WPA3‑Enterprise (depending on your institution).
Authentication method (EAP): Protected EAP (PEAP).
Inner authentication: MSCHAPv2.
Validate server certificate: Enabled.
b. Trusted root CA (Certificate Authority)
You should ensure that your Windows laptop trusts the correct CA certificate specified by your institution. This is usually set in the wireless profile's security settings under "Trusted Root Certification Authorities."
Notes:
- Only enable the specific CA(s) your institution uses to maintain security. Avoid enabling all CAs blindly as it can pose security risks.
- If the required CA certificate is missing, you may need to download it from your institution’s eduroam support site and import it into your Trusted Root Certification Authorities store.
I hope these suggestions could help. If there is anything else, please do not hesitate to ask!
