Request to enable outbound SMTP (Port 25) for transactional email traffic
Hello Azure team,
I am requesting assistance with enabling outbound SMTP traffic (port 25) for a small application running inside my Azure Virtual Network.
About my subscription & environment
• Subscription type: Pay-As-You-Go Dev/Test
• Account age: ~2 years, consistently active
• Service location: Virtual Network with a single VM / service that needs to send emails
• Use case: Strictly low-volume transactional emails
(password reset, login verification, system notifications)
Important clarifications
• No bulk sending or marketing emails
• All outbound email traffic is authenticated, rate-limited, and monitored
• The application relies on SMTP only for user verification and security notifications
• I fully understand Azure’s anti-abuse policies and comply with them
Why I am requesting port 25
My application requires direct SMTP connectivity for testing and future deployment. Using port 587 or a third-party relay is possible, but in this specific setup I need to verify direct SMTP communication from the VM.
What I am asking
Could you please evaluate whether the outbound port 25 restriction can be removed for my subscription?
If additional verification or information is needed, I will gladly provide it.
Thank you for your help.
