Bluetooth HFP profile not working - Headset Microphone missing, Microsoft Bluetooth A2DP Source not in Device Manager
I am unable to use the microphone of my Sennheiser Momentum M2 OEBT headphones on my HP B8SQ8EA#AB8 with Intel Wireless Bluetooth (Intel Core 7 150U).
System info:
- OS: Windows 11 Pro 25H2 (Build 26200.8246)
- Bluetooth adapter: Intel(R) Wireless Bluetooth(R) — driver version 24.30.1.1 (latest)
- Headphones: Sennheiser Momentum M2 OEBT
Problem: The headphones connect in A2DP mode (stereo audio works) but HFP never establishes. In Sound Settings only "Headphones - MOMENTUM M2 OEBT" appears — no separate "Headset Microphone" entry. Microphone input produces only static noise.
Key finding: Microsoft Bluetooth A2DP Source is completely missing from Device Manager. No HFP-related Bluetooth entries exist at all.
Troubleshooting done:
- SCOEnabled = 1 confirmed in registry
- Bluetooth services restarted
- Full headphone reset and clean re-pair multiple times
- All hidden Bluetooth devices removed and re-paired
- DISM + SFC completed with no errors
- Windows 11 in-place repair performed — issue persists
- Intel Bluetooth driver fully up to date (24.30.1.1)
Evidence: Same headphones work perfectly including microphone on another PC with Realtek Bluetooth (HP B8SQ8EA). Issue is specific to Intel Bluetooth — Microsoft Bluetooth A2DP Source missing suggests a Windows Bluetooth audio component is broken or not installed.
Is there a way to restore the missing Microsoft Bluetooth A2DP Source component without a clean Windows install?I am unable to use the microphone of my Sennheiser Momentum M2 OEBT headphones on my HP B8SQ8EA#AB8 with Intel Wireless Bluetooth (Intel Core 7 150U).
