Thanks for sharing the details, Lucas! Please try to switch to a different IME temporarily. Here's how:

Go to System Settings then Keyboard then Input Sources

Add Zhuyin – Traditional Chinese (Taiwan) under Microsoft Input Method if available, or Pinyin – Traditional

Switch input sources with Control + Space and test again in Excel. The Microsoft IME variant currently avoids the spacebar issue.

I see it's a known bug, hotfixes are being worked on. If you want to reinstate full Zhuyin behavior, downgrade Microsoft Office to 16.100.x version.

Quit all Office apps.

Open Microsoft AutoUpdate:

• In Finder: /Library/Application Support/Microsoft/MAU2.0/Microsoft AutoUpdate.app
• Or open Word then Help then Check for Updates

In the top menu bar, click Advanced then Revert to an earlier version.

Choose 16.100.0 (or 16.99.1 if offered).

After rollback, turn off Auto Update so it doesn’t reinstall 16.102.x.
