Oh... I should add that net use from the command prompt works fine...
Windows 11 SMB access to Synology NAS fails
Weird, every Windows 10 device has no issues with the username and password I provide.
Windows 11 asks me for the credentials to the NAS, I type in the username and password, which then fails, providing the same Windows security window, but now the username has changed to the [username + my work domain address] !!!!
Ie for example, assume my username is admin, and my email domain at work is Fred.com.
The first time I try to access the share I type in the username and password into the windows security window, , it fails, returning to the window but now with the username fixed as ‘admin@fred.com”
What gives?
I can then select “more choices” > “use a different account” and repeat the above - just an endless circle of frustration, especially when I can go to my windows 10 pc and it’s perfectly fine!
Why is it manipulating the username like this?

I would recommend verifying and comparing the NTLM settings of the Windows 10 and Windows 11 computers first:
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/security/threat-protection/security-policy-settings/network-security-lan-manager-authentication-levelThis might also be due to your credential manager caching some credentials which are not valid.
The below thread discusses the same issue and you can try out some troubleshooting steps from this and see if that helps you to sort the Issue.

2024-05-17T07:00:39.0466667+00:00 I had the same problem connecting to my synology NAS by typing
\\synology
in Windows Explorer, I later found out that I had to type\\synology.local
. Try and see if that works.
