Hi,

Need help with a Windows login issue. I recently had a user name change at my company. I'm a Domain Admin. I rebuilt my Windows profile to try to fix a few issues I was having after the change. One occurs with the Windows Hello fingerprint scanner. I deleted my fingerprint, Windows Hello Face setup and pin from the Sign-in Options and them set them up again with my new user name. The setup goes fine with both the fingerprint and face options but when I go to use my fingerprint to login it fails and prompts me to sign in but the UAC prompt comes up automatically with my old user name in the user name field. If I click "More choices" and type in my new ID it will work but every time I scan my finger Windows still tries to use my old ID.

Help appreciated.

Thanks!

Kevin

    Hello,

Thank you for posting in Q&A forum.

To solve this problem, we suggest that you try the following steps:

Open "Settings" and navigate to "Accounts">"Login Options". Delete the old fingerprint settings and ensure that only the new fingerprint settings are retained.

Open Control Panel>Credential Manager. Under "Windows credentials", delete the credentials associated with the old username.

Open "Settings" and navigate to "Accounts">"Login Options". Re register the fingerprint under the new username.

Restart your device to ensure all changes take effect.

Update Windows Hello: Ensure that your Windows system and drivers are the latest version to ensure the normal operation of Windows Hello.

    Best regards,

    Jill Zhou
