Received a strange email

Split from this thread about something else.

Hello:

I received an email with someone else's order for Office365. Do I just trash this email? There is no way to contact the seller or buyer of this rather expensive product, and no one has used my information to pay for it.

Sincerely

Sandy Frazier

Hi Sandy,

I think Hannah's advice is excellent.

Seems to me to be a phishing email trying to get your attention and coaxing you into responding or replying or contacting in some way. Don't do it. Follow your instinct and delete the message.

Hello, CraftyCorner.

Welcome to Microsoft community.

Thanks for raising concerns here. It sounds like you may have received an email by mistake, potentially related to someone else’s Office 365 purchase. If you’re sure that no personal or financial information of yours was involved, you can Ignore the email. This could be a fraudulent/phishing email that hackers are using without permission.

At the same time, you can refer to this link for information about trusting emails from the Microsoft account team:

To keep your account secure, you can change your password regularly or enable two-step verification:

If the email contains suspicious links or attachments, do not click on them. These could be phishing attempts. If you're uncertain, hover over any links (without clicking) to see where they lead. Also, we hope you can help report this type of message (assuming it really doesn't come from Microsoft) and here are the ways to report it.

Should you have any questions or require clarification, do not hesitate to reach out to me. I‘d like to do my utmost to assist you.

Best Regards,

Hannah.Z- MSFT |Microsoft Community Support Specialist

I have reported a possible phishing attack to Google. Thank you. My PC burped and I accidentally gave you two stars instead of the four I intended, for which I'm sorry.
