My Word document is now Read-Only and won't allow me to edit anymore (desktop version not app)

I am no longer able to edit my document in Microsoft Word Desktop Version (I don't have the app). Every time I open the document, it acts like it's loading, but then reloads the page and goes to Read-Only mode. When I go to the Edit dropdown in the top right and click edit in desktop, it gives me a message stating 'Sorry, this document can't be opened for editing'. There is no yellow button that will 'Enable Editing' on the document like in other cases I've read about. Also to note, since I can't edit it, the file name appears at the top, and when I hover over it, a message pops up that says 'you don't have permission to rename this document'. I need to finish editing this document for my job and really can't spare the time to completely remake it in a new doc, please help!

Go to OneDrive (or SharePoint if that is what you have) in your web browser and see if you can download the document to the local drive. Then open the document in the desktop version of Word.
