Using the most recent version of Office 365 on Windows 11.

Any time I try to make any changes to the Options in any Office application (I have tried Word and Excel), I receive the following error:

"The server drafts location you entered for offline editing is not valid or you do not have permission to access that location. Specify a location on your local computer."

Searching reveals numerous articles about this issue spanning back well over 15 years; the only solution I'm finding offered is to make a registry edit, as suggested here: The server drafts location you entered for offline editing is not - Microsoft Community

I have performed this registry edit and reset my machine, but the error persists. I am currently unable to make any changes to options in any Office 365 application. Screenshots of the error, the settings dialog, and the registry are attached below. The "server drafts location" field is not editable (which is why the registry edit becomes necessary).

I figured out my issue this morning - because I am on a company-owned machine, I was launching regedit as an admin user. Making the changes to HKEY_CURRENT_USER was changing the field for the admin user, but not my default user account. My own oversight.

Surprisingly, my user account did have permissions to make registry edits, and I was able to update the field as instructed, and it appears to have worked. Thanks for your help!

After editing the registry, do you see "C:" listed in the File > Options dialog box and the error message still displays?

    Thanks for the suggestion; I just tried this - changed the registry entry with no other applications running, then reset my machine - and it did not fix the issue. Do you have any other suggestions?

    Try specifying the root folder, C:, with Word closed.
