why can't I zoom in view when typing a new document

I can't zoom when typing in new document. In the view the zoom selection is not highlighted. The zoom slider isn't highlighted. Just installed Windowa 11

Go to the View tab. If the Side to Side option is selected in the Page Movement group, click Vertical instead. That should restore the ability to zoom documents.

    In View - click on the vertical slide. It's next to the side to side. It unlocked Zoom and I was good to go

    Hello, yaakgirl Welcome to the Microsoft community.I realize that you have encountered a problem that you cannot zoom in Word document on Windows 11. I understand how you feel. Feel free to correct me if my understanding is wrong.

    Here are a few steps you can try:

    1. Delete Word templates.

    • Close all documents.
    • Press Windows + R, copy and type the following text in the open Run box, and then press Enter. 
        %AppData%\Microsoft\Templates
    • Backup and deletefiles with a.dotm (such asNormal.dotm).
    • Restart Wordand see the effect.

    2. Cancel add-ins.

    Click Filein the upper-left corner of the document -> Options-> Add-ins -> at the bottom of this page, change the "Manage" option to "COM Add-ins" and select "Go" > uncheck all add-ins> Click OK.

    Restart Wordand see the effect.

    Also, due to limited information and various possible reasons for the problem, we may ask you for more detailed information.

    • Your Office version. Open a Wordfile****> select File in the top left corner > select Account. Attach a screenshot of this entire page.****
    • What exactly do you mean by “the zoom selection and the zoom slider are not highlighted”? For example:
      • Is there no Zoom option under the “View” tab at the top (the part marked in red in the figure)?
      • Is there no Zoom slider at the bottom-right corner of the Word application (the part marked in green in the figure)? In this situation, please right-click the bottom bar and check Zoom and Zoom Slider options.
      Please attach a screenshot of your issue so that we can understand it better.
    • If you use Ctrl + mouse wheel, are you able to zoom in on the document?
