When I am working on a document in Word, the word keeps breaking to the next line instead of starting a new one. How do I fix this?

There are several possible causes. One is that the font is damaged.

Another possible cause is that the words are separated with nonbreaking spaces. Click the ¶ icon on the Home tab to find out more. With nonprinting marks displayed, nonbreaking spaces are represented by degree signs.

Select the affected text range and replace nonbreaking spaces with ordinary spaces.

    Please provide the following information when posting a question:

    • From Word> About Microsoft Word the Version Number & type of License
    • From **> About This Mac** the macOS Version Number

    Is the issue with one specific document or are all documents affected in the same way?

    It also would help to provide a screen shot of the entire document window with the non-printing characters [¶] displayed.
