Sending, receiving, and organizing email in Outlook.com
Hi! Outlook.com does a first-pass check at the moment the sending server tries to hand the message to Microsoft’s servers.
If the domain in the “From:” header does not pass all three modern authentication tests Microsoft can refuse the mail, in this case the sender should see a 550 5.7.515 or similar rejection with a link to Microsoft’s guidance. The diagnostic string tells them exactly which check failed.
The fix lives on the sender’s mail server or DNS, not in your mailbox. Once the sender’s safety settings are correct, delivery to your Inbox should resume immediately.
