Hey there! Nice to meet you!

To answer your inquiry, according to Odinaka | Microsoft Community Support: https://learn.microsoft.com/answers/questions/5453238/upgraded-from-365-personal-to-family-but-paid-both

"Kindly be informed that Microsoft does not issue refunds when upgrading from Microsoft 365 Personal to Microsoft 365 Family. Instead of refunding the remaining months of your Personal subscription, Microsoft usually extends the expiration date of your new Family subscription by adding some numbers of days to it depending on how much time is left for your previous subscription to expire.

To check if your subscription was extended sign in to your Microsoft account and go to the Subscriptions page and check the expiration date. Usually If you have more than 90 days left on your Microsoft 365 personal plan 77 days will be added to Microsoft 365 family plan.

Kindly refer to this link for further information on the upgrade processes. Switch between Microsoft 365 subscriptions - Microsoft Support https://support.microsoft.com/office/switch-between-microsoft-365-subscriptions-3fcc1efc-2722-427f-8efa-db94b9b0a36b "

Thank you for your kindness and understanding! Please feel free to let me know if you need anything else.

Best regards,

Darhyl
