Outlook data file can't be accessed

Send / receive both fail with the message: Outlook data file can't be accessed.

However....

I can open the pst file from Outlook

I can back up the pst file from Oultook

I can open the backup file from Outlook

I have used scanpst to repair the data file

I have opened and closed Outllook

I have rebooted my computer

Outlook | Windows | New Outlook for Windows | For home

Hi,

It could be possible that the outlook profile is corrupted. It might be necessary to recreate it. Try these steps.

Go to Control Panel > Mail (Microsoft Outlook). Click show profiles. Click Add, then create a profile with another name. Add the account again and configure it. When prompted, select "Always use this profile". Start Outlook and check if Send/Receive works now. If that solves it, you can later add your old PST file manually to access the historical data (file > open and export > open outlook data file).

    Thanks for your suggestion.

    It looks like it may be something to do with the server. When creating a new profile it failed at this point...

    I tried using an unencrypted connection with no success

    Note: I can send/receive emails from my phone and from web mail. It is only Outlook with this problem

    Any further suggestions would be appreciated.
