My new Win 11 computer has problem accessing shares on other Win10 computers. The PCs are visible on the network but files are not accessible. See the message returned.network address is not valid

The other 2 win 10 computers can access shares on the new win 11.

I have tried a couple suggestions from web but nothing worked so far.

Hi,

I'm Sumit, here to help with your query on the Microsoft Q&A forums.

Apologies for any inconvenience you are experiencing. I am happy to help you today.

Could you ensure that on all the devices, the services below are running?

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/file-sharing-over-a-network-in-windows-b58704b2-f53a-4b82-7bc1-80f9994725bf

  • Make sharing services start automatically.
    1. Press the Windows logo key  + R.
    2. In the Run dialog box, type services.msc, and then select OK.
    3. Right-click each of the following services, select Properties, if they're not running, select Start, and next to Startup type, select Automatic:
      • Function Discovery Provider Host
      • Function Discovery Resource Publication
      • SSDP Discovery
      • UPnP Device Host

This sorts out the issues.

I look forward to your response and am eager to collaborate until we find a solution.

    Hi Sumit,

I follow up with your recommendations and set all suggested services to automatic start on all computers. At this point I can see only one WIN 10 on the network with the same error when try to access the shares. It has to be something else that restrict my permissions. Also I cant see the new win 11 comp anymore. Hope you may have more ideas how to fix it.

    Take Care

    AP
