Hi!
Let's check all possible settings for multiplayer and the account. First, Child accounts (<18 y/o, depending on region) are always tied to a family group, so you can’t fully disable restrictions just by “Allowing everything.” Sometimes the settings don’t propagate correctly between xbox.com, Microsoft Family Safety app, and the game.
Step 1: Double-check the Xbox privacy settings (Web)
a. Sign in as the child at https://account.xbox.com/settings.
b. Under Privacy & online safety, make sure:
- Join multiplayer games → Allow
- You can join cross-network play → Allow
- Others can communicate with voice, text, or invites → Everyone/Friends
Note: Sometimes signing in as the child account is required to make settings to be saved properly.
Step 2: Check the Microsoft family safety app
a. Go to Your Family → Child’s Profile → Content Restrictions.
b. Make sure:
- Apps, games & media → Allow apps rated for their age OR set to “Allow all.”
- Web and search filters → Off (these can silently block Xbox connections).
Step 3: Remove and Re-Add the Account on the device
a. On the PC/console, sign out of Minecraft and Xbox app.
b. Go to Settings → Accounts → Email & accounts.
c. Remove the child’s Microsoft account.
d. Re-add it, then sign back into Xbox app + Minecraft.
Step 4: Clear Minecraft / Xbox Live Cache
a. Press Win + R, type:
wsreset.exe
b. Reboot your computer
c. Test Minecraft again
