A Microsoft app for iOS and Android devices that enables authentication with two-factor verification, phone sign-in, and code generation
Hi, for a work (Microsoft Entra) account you can’t self-recover without another registered method, so do this: on the sign-in screen click “Sign in another way” and try any backup method you may have (Authenticator code from another device, SMS/voice, FIDO2/passkey); if none work, contact your company’s IT/Global Admin and ask them to issue a Temporary Access Pass (TAP) or to reset your MFA methods and force re-registration, that’s the standard, safe way to bootstrap a new phone; if you’re the only admin, use a break-glass account (if you have one) or open a Microsoft support ticket to regain tenant access. Once back in, go to aka.ms/mysecurityinfo on the new phone, add Microsoft Authenticator again and also add at least one backup (Authenticator 6-digit code, passkey/FIDO2, SMS/voice if allowed), then download recovery codes; finally have IT remove the old phone and, if it was lost/stolen, sign out all sessions and wipe it if managed with Intune.
