How to UNSYNC two laptops?

Aug 22, 2025: I bought a new (to me) ASUS laptop. I also have an older HP laptop that I still use. Yesterday, when I went through initial set up on the ASUS, it automatically synced with my HP and brought all of my pictures, docs and folders from the HP desktop onto the ASUS desktop.
Cool (I thought at the time).
This morning, I was working on the ASUS and deleted a few items from that desktop. Later, when I logged in to the HP laptop, those items were missing and in the recycle bin there.
This is NOT what I want to happen! I want TWO laptops, INDEPENDENT of each other!
I did some online searching and found what I thought was the solution, it directed me to settings>system>accounts where I was supposed to find the option to disable syncing, but no such option exists there.
HELP! How do I permanently unsync these two laptops?
[FYI chose as tags Windows for Home/Windows11/Settings because I have NO IDEA what else to choose for this issue]

Windows for home | Windows 11 | Settings

Hi, I'm Rodrigo and I will help you.
This is happening because you have the OneDrive backup feature enabled for both devices in the same account.

To stop this behavior, disable the OneDrive backup on one device or on both devices.

Right-click the OneDrive icon on the right side of the taskbar (cloud icon) > Settings > Sync and backup > Manage Backup > Turn off the options you don't want to sync.

The files will "disappear" from the folders, but it is just the location that changed, you can still find the files on the OneDrive folder and copy them to the folders.
