Hello Dee, I am Henry and I want to share my insight about your issue.

Since both left and right Shift keys stopped working on your Lenovo Yoga, the issue is usually either software/driver related or a hardware/keyboard ribbon problem.

  1. Quick Checks
  • External keyboard test: Plug in a USB/Bluetooth keyboard → see if Shift works there.
    • If it works → your laptop keyboard hardware is likely faulty.
    • If not → it’s probably a software/driver issue.
  • On-screen keyboard: Open Win + Ctrl + O → test Shift. If it works here, again points to hardware failure.
  1. Software Fixes
    1. Keyboard Driver Reset
      • Press Win + XDevice Manager.
      • Expand Keyboards.
      • Right-click → Uninstall device.
      • Restart → Windows reinstalls the driver.
    2. Update Drivers
    • Go to Lenovo Vantage (preinstalled app) → System Update.
    • Update all drivers (especially input/keyboard/firmware).
    1. Check Language/Input Settings
    • Win + ITime & LanguageLanguage & Region.
    • Make sure your keyboard layout is correct (e.g., US QWERTY).
    • Sometimes wrong layouts cause modifier keys to act dead.
    1. Safe Mode Test
      1. Boot into Safe Mode → test Shift.
      2. If it works here, some 3rd-party software or hotkey app is blocking it.
  2. Hardware Fixes
  • If software doesn’t fix it:
    • Keyboard ribbon cable inside may have loosened (common on Yoga laptops).
    • Try power drain reset: Shut down → unplug charger → hold power button 30 sec → restart.
    • If still not working, the keyboard itself may need replacing. Lenovo Yoga keyboards are part of the top case in many models, so it may require service.

I also looked into other sources and found that multiple users have reported issues with the Shift key on Lenovo Yoga laptops. According to this Lenovo Community thread

I hope this information and these keywords help point you in the right direction for your research.
