Windows 11 Pro not shutting down and update issues

A recent installation of Windows 11 Pro has resulted in the system not shutting down when the power button is pressed. Additionally, updates are not occurring, and a blue screen appears at startup indicating that "your computer ran into a problem." The version in use is Windows 11 24h2. What steps can be taken to address these issues?

Does your system shut down normally when you click the Power icon in the Start menu and select Shut down?

  1. Click Windows + R key, type powercfg.cpl, and click ok.
  2. On the left pane, select Choose what the Power buttons do > When I press the Power Button: Select Shutdown in the drop-down lists for both battery and Plugged in.
  3. Click Save Changes.

Regarding the BSOD error, please check if your PC is creating any minidump files. I will look at them to find out what might be causing the crashes.

  1. Open Windows File Explorer.
  2. Navigate to C:\Windows\Minidump.
  3. Copy any minidump files onto your Desktop, then zip them up.
  4. Upload the zip file to the Cloud (OneDrive, Dropbox, etc.), then choose to share it and get a share link.
  5. Then post the link here to the zip file so we can take a look for you.
