Cancel subscription of someone who died and we don't have their account information
My mother recently passed away and dealing with Microsoft to cancel a subscription has been a joke. With all the things one has to deal with when a parent dies, this I thought would be relatively easy.
The international text chat help centre were absolutely useless. I provided screen shots of everything and they either didn’t look at them at all or couldn’t comprehend them. Two and a half hours online with them and nothing revolved. This was my second attempt with them to sort it out, the first people I had talked with had it all fixed, surprise surprise they had done nothing at all. Never again.
I’ve seen others here have had similar issues. I used to be a Microsoft user but this experience has shown me it’s really just not worth it. Plenty of free alternatives, do a google search for free MS Office alternatives.
The arrogance of a company to operate in this way is a disgrace.
All I can say is don’t leave a Microsoft subscription mess for your kids to deal with.
Id be interested in other peoples experiences.

I’m sorry for your loss. I understand how difficult this must be on top of everything else you’re going through.
Note - This is a peer-to-peer support forum. Account or billing-related queries fall outside the scope of our community guidelines, as they usually require sharing personal information. Posting such details in a public forum poses security risks and violates Microsoft’s terms and conditions. For this reason, we can only offer general guidance on how to cancel your subscription for a deceased account.
If you are unable to get the subscription cancelled through Microsoft account, you can contact your bank or credit card provider. You can explain the situation to them, and they should be able to block or stop future recurring payments for this subscription from their side. Once the bank cancels the recurring charge, Microsoft will no longer be able to bill you for the subscription.
If you are stil having issues, reach out to Microsoft Office Support again. They should be able to cancel the subscription as well.
