How to reassign Microsoft Store product licenses to a new account?

Hello everyone!

I have a Microsoft Account whose email address has been compromised in multiple data breaches over the years. Fortunately, I have authentication methods enabled, so nothing ever really happened.

However, I have a Minecraft Java Edition license, as well as an Xbox Live profile/account, associated with said breached account/email address, with purchased licenses. Please note I still have full control over this compromised account. Therefore, my question is as follows:

I need to delete this compromised account, but want to preserve the purchases I've made with it by reassigning them to a new Microsoft account that I've already set up. How can I make this happen?

Cheers!

Hello,

Unfortunately Microsoft doesn't support transferring/merging products purchased between accounts.

But if your account email address has been involved in data breaches, you can do the following to secure your account, in addition to what you've already done.

Go to your Microsoft account online https://account.live.com > Sign in > Your info > Sign in preference.

Add an alias - You have two options here:

Create new: this will allow you to use the native domain outlook.com to create a new alias.

Add existing: this will allow you to add a 3rd party email address, such as yahoo, gmail, as long as they are not already associated with another Microsoft account.

Once added, make this new alias your primary alias, do NOT delete the old alias. Then at the bottom, click on "Change sign in preference". On the next page, uncheck the box for the old alias. This means, from now one, the old alias cannot be used to sign into your Microsoft account, but it can be still used to receive emails, etc.
