Hi LBS,
Welcome to Microsoft Q&A!
I'm sorry to hear you're having problems setting up Family Link on your Mac to manage a Windows PC. This is quite tricky because Microsoft Family Safety features are mostly applied for Windows-level account permissions, and the child’s account must be a standard user, not as administrator.
Unfortunately, changing account type on Windows cannot be done remotely from a Mac or the Family Safety website. It must be done directly on that Windows PC. Since you don’t have access to it, here are the options:
- Wait until you can physically access the Windows device to make the change
- Ask/guide someone with access to the PC to change account type
- Have your cousin cooperate to change to Standard User
- Use remote desktop assistance soft wares
- Create a brand-new account.
To fix the Family Safety warning, the child’s account must be changed from Administrator to Standard User on the Windows PC itself, not necessarily another PC. This cannot be done from a Mac or remotely via Family Link. But you can easily instruct your cousin to change their own account type to "Standard User." Let me know if you're interested and need more details on the steps to do that.
