New install. Mouse scroll doesn't seem to work in Copilot window and I'm pretty sure other Windows dialog boxes as well.

Scroll is set to 5. Not sure what's going on.

Sorry for not replying. Gave up and sent my Dell computer back. New laptop is an ASUS running 24H2, so I don't have the problem anymore. Thanks again.

    Hello Dale,

    Thank you for reaching out.

Have you checked the inactive windows scrolling setting yet? Sometimes, Windows has trouble determining which window is "active" for scrolling.

But I doubt that this is the issue here, since you mentioned that scrolling works fine in other windows. However, it's still worth checking.

    • Go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Mouse.
    • Look for a setting called "Scroll inactive windows when I hover over them".
    • Try toggling this setting OFF if it's on, or ON if it's off.
    • Test the scroll behavior in Copilot again.

I hope this could help resolve the issue.

    Hi Dale,

That can be really frustrating when a new install doesn’t behave the way you expect. A couple of things you can try: first, make sure your Bluetooth mouse driver is fully updated in Device Manager, because Windows sometimes defaults to a generic driver that doesn’t support smooth scrolling in certain UI windows. Second, in Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Mouse, try changing the scroll setting (lines vs. one screen at a time) and test again some dialog boxes don’t respond properly unless it’s set to lines. Third, check if “Smooth scrolling” is enabled in your browser or app where you notice the issue, since Copilot is rendered through system UI elements that can be picky about scroll input. Lastly, if you have any Keychron software or a utility like VIA/QMK or third-party mouse tools, make sure they’re not overriding scroll behavior.

Can I ask does the scroll wheel work normally in File Explorer, browsers, or Word/Excel? And when you say "other dialogs," do you mean things like Settings pop-ups or UAC prompts, or just Copilot-style panels?

    Kind regards,
