Unable to activate windows after hardware update

Hi,

I recently upgraded my desktop hardware, I replaced the motherboard, CPU, and RAM, but kept my same storage drive with my existing Windows 10 installation. Before the upgrade, Windows 10 was fully activated and linked to my Microsoft account.

After the upgrade, my system now says Windows is not activated, showing error code 0x803F7001. I’ve already tried the Activation Troubleshooter, but it doesn't show my current device or it just says the servers are unavailable.

I ran slmgr.vbs /dlv, and the output shows my license as Retail channel (not OEM). I never had a product key, it was a digital license that auto-activated when I signed in to my Microsoft account on my previous hardware.

Can someone please confirm how I can reactivate my digital Retail license after a hardware change when I don’t have a product key? Do I need to contact support to re-bind the license to my new motherboard, or is there another way to do it manually?

Thanks in advance!

Thank you for that information, that is very strange, a digital licence is either sourced from a previous upgrade from Windows 7 or 8 to Windows 10 or by purchasing a full retail licence.

Your screenshot indicates no product key is found on your PC, that Installed key is just a generic key that cannot be used to activate Windows, because this forum is just a user to user forum, you will need to contact Microsoft directly, they may be able to find the digital licence on your account and re-activate Windows for you.

Where did you get your digital Windows licence was that pre-installed on the PC or did you purchase a full retail Windows licence from Microsoft or from a 3rd party retailer?

Or is your Windows licence based on a previous Windows 7 or 8 licence?

Download the free ShowKeyPlus app from the Microsoft Store.

Please provide a screenshot of that app window and please hide any product key in the screenshot.
