My Microsoft account was hacked and they changed my email address

Recently, someone hacked into my Microsoft account and changed my email and removed my phone number from it. I logged in using the hacker's email (<Mod remove PII>) and my old password, but I couldn’t change anything. I initiated the security information change which takes 30 days but it was canceled by the hacker and my password was changed. I can no longer log into my old account and any recovery tool is useless since codes and other such methods go directly to the hackers email and not mine.

I’ve tried contacting microsoft customer support without success.

I'm sorry for the trouble you're having. The only way to recover a hacked account is to follow the steps provided by Microsoft Support; https://support.microsoft.com/account-billing/how-to-recover-a-hacked-or-compromised-microsoft-account-24ca907d-bcdf-a44b-4656-47f0cd89c245

Unfortunately, if the above method doesn't work and the email address has been replaced by the hacker, you won't be able to recover it using the steps in the link, in which case I suggest using the Recovery Form.

Type "Account sign-in issues"

Click the "Contact Support" button

Other Products > Manage Account Security > Confirm.

Select "Chat with a support agent in your web browser."
