Hi, good day!
- When was the last time it worked properly?
- Have you made any changes to your computer recently?
Please try the following methods below.
- Check the basics first: Make sure your headphones or speakers are firmly plugged into the green audio jack (that’s the correct one for sound output). If you’re using the front jack, make sure it’s actually connected inside your PC. The cable labeled HD AUDIO should go to the “AUDIO” header on the motherboard.
- Pick the right output device: Sometimes Windows just plays sound through the wrong output. Click the speaker icon on your taskbar > tap the arrow (˄) next to the volume bar > then try switching between the available outputs (for example, “Speakers - Realtek Audio” or “Headphones”).
- Reinstall or update your audio driver: Open Device Manager (
Win + X → Device Manager), expand “Sound, video and game controllers,” right-click your audio driver (it’s usually “Realtek Audio”), and hit Update driver. If that doesn’t help, choose Uninstall device, restart your PC, and Windows will reinstall it fresh and automatically. - Check BIOS if only the front jack isn’t working: Restart your PC and enter BIOS (press Del or F2). Look for an option like HD Audio / Front Panel Audio, and make sure it’s enabled.
- Try different gear if possible: Plug your headset or speakers into another device to make sure they’re working fine. If they do work elsewhere, the issue’s likely software. If not, it could be a hardware problem on your PC’s audio port.
If all else fails, a quick workaround is to use a USB sound card > they’re cheap, plug-and-play, and often fix these jack problems instantly.
I look forward to receiving your update and I'm willing to collaborate with you till we resolve the issue. Do keep me informed by clicking "Add comment" below.
