Since excel has been updated it freezes whenever I open it on my iPhone or ipad

I have tried restarting Excel, restarting my iPad, and finally deleting and reinstalling Excel and it still isn’t working. The only way I can even open an Excel file is to do it from OneDrive, but once open, I can’t edit, close or even scroll. I have to just hard close the app.

I had the same problem or at least a very similar problem where excel would freeze or crash as it tried to upload to onedrive and the only thing that fixed it for me was signing out of Microsoft and signing back in, hopefully it remains working

Hi,

Try restarting your device. If it does not work, try clearing the cache and data of the app on your device.

If you still have the same issue, please uninstall the Excel app, then restart your device. After restarting, install the Excel app.

I had already deleted and reinstalled the app and this didn’t work but restarting my iPhone seems to have sorted the problem thanks

A hot fix solution that works for me with the least intrusive steps:

Disable my wifi when it freezes and then enable it again. After doing this the app works fine until I restart it (Excel application?) again. I have also tried this using airplane mode toggle, least hassles solution so far, recommend to try this first!

Hope this helps with all affected users and useful hint for MS to address the underlying issue.

This was helpful. Not truly affect, but at least it solved the immediate problem. Microsoft is so frustrating when it releases an update that creates a bug for an app that didn’t seem to have bugs

nothing is working. The best thing is the provider Microsoft to sort it out and solve the problem.
