Azure VM takes over an hour to login - stuck on "Please wait for the User Profile Service"

I have an Azure virtual machine that I'm paying for, but I'm experiencing extremely slow login times (approximately 1 hour). When I attempt to connect via Windows App (Microsoft Remote Desktop client on Mac), the VM gets stuck displaying the message "Please wait for the User Profile Service" for an extended period before finally allowing me to log in. This issue occurs consistently every time I try to connect to the VM, making it nearly unusable for its intended purpose. Please help diagnose and resolve this performance issue so I can access my VM in a reasonable timeframe.

Thanks for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum.

It usually means Windows is having trouble loading the user profile. This often happens when the user profile is corrupted or its registry entries are damaged. In some cases, the VM is simply running out of disk space or system resources, which slows everything down, including profile loading.

To fix, you can make sure the VM has enough space and resources, restart it after updates, or try signing in with a new user account. If the new account works normally, then the original user profile is likely broken and needs to be repaired or recreated.
