How to change payment method / region without losing everything in cloud storage

My Microsoft 365 subscription is overdue.

I set up MS 365 in country 1, I am living in country 2.

MS won't accept payment card for country 1. It won't allow me to change billing address to country 2 so that I can pay with payment card from country 2.

Insane situation in this day and age!

Help tells me to cancel country 1, open new account for country 2. IF I DO THIS, will I lose all data in my cloud storage (because country 2 has terrible internet, and I really can't re-upload everything!)

Hi Tanis,

Your OneDrive data is tied to your Microsoft account, not your subscription or billing region. So even if your subscription expires or you cancel it, your files will remain in your cloud storage as long as you keep using the same Microsoft account. It's either: let your current subscription expires. Re-subscribe using your local payment method in your Country 2 or use the same Microsoft account when purchasing the new subscription.

This way, you won’t lose access to your files, and you won’t need to re-upload anything even with slower internet.

Hope this helps!

Best,
