Xbox and Microsoft Store sign-in problem.

I am unable to sign in to the Xbox app or Microsoft Store on my Windows PC. When attempting to sign in to either apps, I am presented with a “Choose a way to sign in” window offering Password or PIN/Windows Hello options. Selecting my PIN results in a loop back to the same screen. Same thing with using my password, or verification with a different email. I am also unable to disable the option to use my PIN for the sign-in process. I have tried clearing the Store cache with wsreset.exe, repairing and resetting both the Store and Xbox apps, deleting the Microsoft Store package folder, and re-registering the Store and Xbox apps via PowerShell. I also reinstalled Microsoft Store and Gaming Services using winget. Despite these steps, the sign-in loop persists.

A few extra things: I could sign into my microsoft account via a browser (opera, chrome, etc.). I could also access my xbox and microsoft account on another computer. Also, I recently changed my primary email on this microsoft account. From an Outlook email to a Gmail email. I was able to change my password while attempting to sign into the Xbox App, including the part where verification is needed through another email/phone number. I personally feel that its a verification problem with just my computer, because my account is very obviously not locked, or has any problem being accessed on a different computer.

Hello,

This could be due to a corrupted auto-login, open the start menu and go to credentials manager, find any mention of the Microsoft store and xbox, delete those credentials to clear them from the autologin, then try to login again.

Hope this helps,

JC

It sounds like you're experiencing a frustrating sign-in issue with the Xbox app and Microsoft Store on your Windows PC. Here are a few steps you can try to resolve the sign-in loop:

    1. Check for Updates: Ensure that your Windows operating system is up to date. Sometimes, pending updates can cause issues with app functionality.
    2. Gaming Services Update: Make sure that the Gaming Services are up to date. You can check the version information in Add or Remove Programs in settings. If necessary, you can force an update by using PowerShell:
      • Launch PowerShell as an administrator and enter "get-appxpackage Microsoft.GamingServices | remove-AppxPackage -allusers"
      • Then enter "start ms-windows-store://pdp/?productid=9MWPM2CQNLHN" to reinstall it.
    3. Xbox App Update: Similar to Gaming Services, ensure the Xbox App is updated. If it’s not, you can update it by switching to the RETAIL sandbox and reinstalling it through PowerShell:
      • Enter "get-appxpackage Microsoft.XboxApp | remove-AppxPackage -allusers"
      • Then enter "start ms-windows-store://pdp/?productid=9mv0b5hzvk9z" to reinstall the app.
    4. Clear Cache and Data: While you've mentioned clearing the Store cache, consider also clearing the cache for the Xbox app. You can do this by going to Settings > Apps > Xbox App > Storage, and then selecting "Clear Cache".
    5. Check Account Issues: Make sure that your Microsoft account is not locked or having issues. You can try signing in to your account on the Microsoft website to verify its status.
    6. Network Connection: Ensure that your internet connection is stable. Sometimes, a poor connection can lead to sign-in issues.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, consider reaching out to Microsoft support or checking the Xbox forums for additional troubleshooting steps specific to your situation.
