Hello,
Thanks for reaching out, and I appreciate you explaining your situation so clearly. I understand how frustrating it can be to think you've disabled the PIN requirement only to find it still active when your computer wakes from sleep.
It sounds like you've already taken steps using the netplwiz method to bypass the sign-in at startup which is great. However Windows 11 has additional security settings that can still enforce PIN or Windows Hello sign-in when waking from sleep. This behavior is often tied to the "Require sign-in" setting and Windows Hello features.
To resolve this try opening Settings, go to Accounts, then Sign-in options and scroll down to Additional settings. Look for the option that says “For improved security only allow Windows Hello sign-in for Microsoft accounts on this device” and turn it off. This setting can silently enforce PIN or biometric login even if you've disabled it elsewhere. Once that’s done go back to the Windows Hello PIN section and click Remove. You’ll be prompted to enter your Microsoft account password to confirm.
If the PIN prompt still appears after sleep, check the setting under “If you’ve been away, when should Windows require you to sign in again?” and set it to Never. If this option is greyed out it may be due to Windows Hello being active. Temporarily disabling Windows Hello can unlock this setting.
Just to make sure we’re covering all bases have you ever joined this device to a work or school account or an organization like Azure AD? Those setups can quietly enforce sign-in policies even if you’re using a personal account.
I hope this answer is helpful if you have further questions feel free to reply back
Regards,
Marcelo
