I can’t sign in onto my laptop, it says, “This sign-in option is disabled because of failed sign-in attempts or repeated shutdowns. Use a different sign in option, or keep your device powered on for at least 2 hours and then try again.”

I have already waited the two hours and had input the correct password yet it still won’t let me. I have tried the, “I forgot my PIN” option, yet it doesn’t even load. I have zero idea on what to do anymore. Can anyone help me?

Hi! Maybe your computer is having trouble validating your passwords on Microsoft servers, or the Windows Hello services are experiencing problems. Try this:

  1. First, try to solve the problem by following the steps in the link below:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/solucionar-problemas-ao-entrar-no-windows-298cfd5f-df1f-c66b-36ad-f2a61a73baad

  1. If the problem persists, please log in to your Microsoft account from the site below using another device (mobile or computer) > Sign in with your Microsoft account > Reset your password through the site.

https://account.microsoft.com/account?lang=en-us

  1. Restart the computer > Make sure it is connected to the internet correctly > Enter your new password. On the lock screen, click Login Options > Key icon to enter your Microsoft password.
  2. Another solution that may help is to disconnect the Internet or Wi-Fi cable from your PC > Restart your computer > Connect the Internet cable > Restart your computer > Enter the PIN or password again.

Point Recovery

If the problem persists, try to restore your PC to a previous point.

  1. Hold down the SHIFT key and restart your computer in the Lock Screen.
  • Hold SHIFT until you access the Recovery Screen

NOTE: If the computer cannot access Windows, before turning on the device, press the F8 key until it enters the Recovery Mode (do not stop pressing the key until you enter the option).

  • Some manufacturers can change this key, such as SHIFT, ESC, F11, F12.
  • Also try holding the key (do not stop holding the key until you enter the option).
  • Try holding the WINDOWS key and the On/Off button, and when the computer starts, release them.
  1. In Recovery Mode, select Troubleshooting > System Restore
  2. Scroll through the Restore Window until you reach the available Restore Points > Choose the latest > Advance the options.

Uninstall Updates

  • In Recovery Mode, select Troubleshooting > Uninstall Updates.
  • Choose the "Uninstall Latest Quality Update" option.
  • If the problem persists, go back to the Menu and choose the "Uninstall Latest Feature Update" option.

It has been fixed after reseting my laptop and taking out the latest update! After that, I clicked “I forgot my PIN” and it worked! Hopefully people have a much more positive experience that I had with that problematic sign-in.

It seems you are experiencing issues with signing into your laptop due to a disabled sign-in option after multiple failed attempts. Here are some steps you can take to resolve this issue:

    1. Wait for the Lockout Period: If you have not already, ensure that you wait for the lockout period to expire. Sometimes, this can take longer than expected.
    2. Use a Different Sign-in Option: If available, try using a different sign-in method, such as a password instead of a PIN, or vice versa.
    3. Reset Your Password: If you are unable to sign in using any method, consider resetting your password. You can do this by selecting the "I forgot my PIN" option, but since you mentioned it does not load, you may need to try this from a different device or after a restart.
    4. Contact Support: If the problem persists, you may need to contact Microsoft Support or your device manufacturer for further assistance. They can provide additional troubleshooting steps or help you regain access to your account.
    5. Safe Mode: If you can access Safe Mode, try booting into it and see if you can log in there. This might allow you to troubleshoot further or reset your settings.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, it may be necessary to seek professional help to avoid data loss or further complications.
