Deleted hotmail email address from account - can I get it back?

Hello,

I have lost access to my hotmail.co.uk email address. I was on my microsoft account and swapped my primary email to a new one (after getting married and changing my name). I then removed the hotmail.co.uk email account. This was really stupid as I need access to my past emails. I'm trying to log on and it won't recognise the email address.

Can anyone please give me some guidance?

Thanks very much,
Sally Kettle

Unfortunately, once you remove a hotmail email address from your Microsoft account, it cannot be directly recovered. However, you may have a couple of options:

    1. Restore Deleted User Account: If you deleted the entire user account associated with the hotmail email address, you may have up to 30 days to restore it. You would need to contact Microsoft support for assistance in this process.
    2. Check for Backups: If you had any backups or if you used any email clients that might have stored your emails locally, you could check those for your past emails.
    3. Contact Microsoft Support: If the above options do not help, reaching out to Microsoft support directly may provide additional options or guidance specific to your situation.

It's important to note that once an email address is removed, any emails associated with it may also be lost unless they were backed up or stored elsewhere.

    Hello,

I am afraid the AI is giving you WRONG information and false hope.

If you delete your entire Microsoft account, then yes, depends, you might be able to get it back within x days.

However, you did NOT delete your Microsoft account, what you deleted was an alias within your Microsoft account, in this case, it is gone. I am sorry.

    Microsoft explains it here: https://support.microsoft.com/office/add-or-remove-an-email-alias-in-outlook-com-459b1989-356d-40fa-a689-8f285b13f1f2

Under the section "Remove an email address", it says: "Are you sure? If you remove an alias that's an email address from a Microsoft domain (like @hotmail.com, @live.com, @outlook.com, or @msn.com), you're permanently deleting the alias and it can't be associated with any Microsoft account again."
