Hello Steven Kroll, thanks for posting this in our community. This is a frustrating situation, especially when BitLocker is preventing access and the keyboard isn’t responding.

If your keyboard isn’t working on the BitLocker screen, it may be due to lack of USB support during pre-boot. Try using a basic wired USB keyboard instead of a wireless or Bluetooth one. Connect it directly to a USB-A port if available, or through a powered USB hub if you're using USB-C.

Kind regards,

John Oli

I tried different keyboards in all (4) USB ports…no luck. Any other suggestions?

If your keyboard is not working and you encounter the BitLocker recovery screen, you can try the following steps:

    1. Use Accessibility Tools: On the BitLocker recovery screen, you may have access to accessibility tools such as the on-screen keyboard. You can activate the on-screen keyboard by tapping on a text input control. This will allow you to enter the recovery code using your mouse.
    2. Check USB Ports: If you are using a USB keyboard, try connecting it to different USB ports on your device. Sometimes, certain ports may not function properly.
    3. Use a Different Keyboard: If possible, try using a different wired or wireless keyboard. Ensure that the keyboard is compatible with your device.
    4. Connect to Another Device: If you have access to another device, you can connect your hard drive as a secondary drive to that device and attempt to unlock it using the recovery password there.

If none of these options work, you may need to seek further assistance or contact support for your device.
