As Stefan wrote, go to Word> Preferences> User Information to edit the user name. Be sure to click the checkbox to Always use... .

Note that this will apply to new entries but existing content will not be changed.

File > Options only exists in Word for Windows.

In Word for Mac, click Word > Preferences.

To change the name of the commenter in Word, you need to update your user information in the Microsoft Office settings. Here’s how you can do it:

    1. Open Microsoft Word.
    2. Go to the File menu.
    3. Select Options.
    4. In the Word Options dialog, click on General.
    5. Under the section labeled Personalize your copy of Microsoft Office, you can change the User name to your preferred name.
    6. Click OK to save your changes.

After you make this change, the new name should appear in comments you add to documents.
