    Hello,

Can you go to https://account.live.com > subscription, make sure the subscription in indeed active.

If so, make sure you sign into the right account in the apps. Also, go to Files > Accounts, click on update license, log in again. See if it helps

I got message that 'something went wrong, try again'. I'm getting nowhere, just going round in circles.

Emily, there is no Files>accounts option in Excel. Where should I access that menu choice?

If you're receiving a "subscription canceled" message when opening Word or Excel despite having renewed your Office subscription, here are some troubleshooting steps you can follow:

    1. Check Subscription Status: Ensure that your subscription is indeed active. You can do this by logging into the Microsoft 365 Admin Center and navigating to Billing > Your products. If the subscription is not active, you may need to reactivate it.
    2. Sign Out and Sign Back In: Sometimes, signing out of your Microsoft account and signing back in can resolve activation issues. Open Word or Excel, select your name or profile picture at the top, choose Sign out, and then sign back in.
    3. Update Microsoft 365: Make sure that your Microsoft 365 apps are updated. Open a Microsoft 365 app, go to File > Account, and under Update options, select Update now.
    4. Reset Activation State: If the issue persists, you may need to reset the activation state of Microsoft 365. Instructions for this can be found in the Microsoft documentation.
    5. Check License Assignment: If you are part of an organization, ensure that your user account has the appropriate licenses assigned. Check this in the Users > Active users section of the Admin Center.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, you may want to contact Microsoft support for further assistance.
