How to EDIT an existing table of contents, NOT update it or create a new one

I set three simple levels in my Table of Contents using Styles {Heading 1}, {Heading 2} and {Heading 3}. However, the table only shows Heading 1. I'm an experienced Word user but this problem takes the cake. The table is properly defined using Styles but even after repeatedly updating the entire table I'm still only seeing Heading 1/chapter title.

I dug deeper into the Styles and found the problem. One of the Styles had a spelling error in the name, which didn't match the system directory. This was complicated by the fact that the document itself is in Spanish while my user interface is English. I'm not fluent, but I read and write Latin American Spanish at an intermediate level. Thank you.
