I've just spent 4 hours trying to sort this problem:
The microsoft login page will not accept my password even though it is correct. I'm using an iphone. I can login on my macbook ok. On my iphone i keep getting the same message - 'You've tried to sign in too many times with an incorrect account or password'.
I've tried deleting the account from the mail app on my iphone, resetting the phone, deleting everything related to that email address, resetting it again - but still i get the same message after trying to login.
I think my iphone is blocked somehow, and i can't unblock it. What can I do with this? It's extremely frustrating, i've tried everything.
I really need to talk or preferably chat to a human who can walk me through everything.
As soon as i posted this i got an AI answer telling me to try support. My God. If only i'd thought of that. All i get are auto messages that are zero help - i need to talk to a human, someone who actually understands what the problem is and can check my account and iphone.
The easiest way out of this i can see is to set up a completely new email address and move it all away from Outlook and Microsoft. Great.

Not much help, and i'm not holding my breath. Something is badly wrong and can do nothing but wait. Hopefully it means that behind the scenes they're working hard to fix it over the next 24-48 hours. At least thats what i hope they're doing.

I waited 13 days before trying again, just to make sure, and it's still saying the same thing!!!!
How the fxxx do i get my email back onto my iphone???????

Oh my god, i finally got to open a chat window with a human being and we sorted it out in 5 minutes. Just resetting the password using my phone did the trick. Simple.
After doing this i could login to live.com successfully from my iphone and add Outlook back to my Mail app. What a relief.

If you’re getting the error message "You’ve tried too many times with an incorrect account or password" even though you entered the correct email and password, you’re not alone. This error message has been reported by several users recently.
My first suggestion is to try signing in using “Other ways to sign in” instead of entering your password. From there, choose to receive a code through your linked verification methods.
If that doesn’t work, some users mentioned that waiting more than 24 hours without making any sign-in attempts can remove the block on your account, allowing you to log in normally afterward.
There's no other option? After i've entered my live.com email address the next (and only) option is to enter my password, no 'Other ways to sign in' option.
The only other thing is to change the password after the 'too many tries' message. The password is correct already, i've just signed in here now using my laptop. It's a joke.
Unfortunately this is going to create so much work for me to swap everything somewhere else, i've had this address for nearly 20 years, running everything through it.
Now i'll have to change everything. Banking, work, family, socials, subscriptions....everything. My god.
I'm certain my iphone is blocked for some unknown reason, and there's literally no way to speak to someone and confirm who i am and that my iphone can be used on my account. I've had the same phone number for the last 9 years, same for texts, everything.
Microsoft are one of the richest companies in the world yet there's no way to speak to anyone. It's making me want to change and get rid of them now if i'm honest.
