Cannot login to my outlook account from iphone even though details are correct

I've just spent 4 hours trying to sort this problem:

The microsoft login page will not accept my password even though it is correct. I'm using an iphone. I can login on my macbook ok. On my iphone i keep getting the same message - 'You've tried to sign in too many times with an incorrect account or password'.

I've tried deleting the account from the mail app on my iphone, resetting the phone, deleting everything related to that email address, resetting it again - but still i get the same message after trying to login.

I think my iphone is blocked somehow, and i can't unblock it. What can I do with this? It's extremely frustrating, i've tried everything.

I really need to talk or preferably chat to a human who can walk me through everything.

Oh my god, i finally got to open a chat window with a human being and we sorted it out in 5 minutes. Just resetting the password using my phone did the trick. Simple.

After doing this i could login to live.com successfully from my iphone and add Outlook back to my Mail app. What a relief.

Thanks to <Mod remove PII> in the Live Chat Widget, great!

    Hi,

If you’re getting the error message "You’ve tried too many times with an incorrect account or password" even though you entered the correct email and password, you’re not alone. This error message has been reported by several users recently.

My first suggestion is to try signing in using “Other ways to sign in” instead of entering your password. From there, choose to receive a code through your linked verification methods.

If that doesn’t work, some users mentioned that waiting more than 24 hours without making any sign-in attempts can remove the block on your account, allowing you to log in normally afterward.

It sounds like you are experiencing a frustrating issue with signing into your Outlook account on your iPhone. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the problem:

    1. Check User ID: Ensure that you are using the correct user ID (your Office 365 user ID is your user principal name, e.g., ******@contoso.com). If you are unsure, you may want to verify this with your administrator.
    2. Password Expiration: If your password has expired, you will need to contact your administrator to reset it.
    3. Account Activation: Make sure your Office 365 account is activated. If you are trying to log in for the first time, you need to activate your account using a temporary password.
    4. Account Blocked: If your Microsoft Logon account is blocked, wait for about 15 minutes and try logging in again. If the issue persists, your administrator may need to reset your password to unblock your account.
    5. Delete and Re-add Account: Since you have already tried deleting the account, ensure that you remove it completely from the Mail app and then re-add it. Sometimes, reconfiguration can resolve login issues.
    6. Use the Outlook App: If you haven't already, consider downloading the Outlook app from the App Store and try logging in through that instead of the native Mail app.

If none of these steps resolve your issue, you may want to reach out to Microsoft Support for further assistance. They can provide more personalized help and may be able to resolve any account-specific issues you are facing.
