Cannot Access Microsoft Account After Hacker Changed Email, Advice Needed

Hello,

My Microsoft account, originally linked to my iCloud email, was recently hacked. The hacker added their own email (gs*****@caelune.icu) and removed my iCloud email from the account. As a result, I am completely locked out and cannot access my account.

Here is what I can confirm about the account:

I still have access to my original iCloud email.

I remember the old password used for the Microsoft account.

The account is linked to Minecraft Java Edition (username: xxx) and Minecraft Bedrock Edition (I purchased both).

The account is also linked to Microsoft Store purchases.

I created the account around last year.

I have attempted to use the standard Microsoft account recovery form (ACSR), but it says my account does not exist, and there is no option to “Continue anyway” or submit recovery for a removed alias.

I am looking for guidance on the correct way to submit a recovery request or any additional steps I can take to prove ownership and regain access. I can provide old passwords, purchase information, device usage, and Minecraft ownership as proof.

Thank you very much for any advice or instructions — I want to recover my account safely and securely.

Hey there! Nice to meet you!

I'm sorry you are experiencing this.

The only way to recover a hacked account is through the official Microsoft troubleshooter guide:

https://support.microsoft.com/account-billing/how-to-recover-a-hacked-or-compromised-microsoft-account-24ca907d-bcdf-a44b-4656-47f0cd89c245

If the account recovery web form doesn't work, and since the security info has been replaced by the hacker, I'm afraid there is no other working method to recover the Microsoft account, and Microsoft Support cannot help either.

However, I would recommend reaching out to Minecraft Support regarding your Minecraft account if they can provide an alternative option:

https://help.minecraft.net/hc/en-us/request/new?ticket_form_id=360001225811

Thank you for your understanding.

Best regards,

Darhyl

Tell me what they replied to you. They changed my account to the same email address, and technical support says: “You are not the legitimate owner of this account.” Even though I attached purchase receipts as proof.

I'm sorry to hear about your situation with your Microsoft account. Since your account has been compromised and you are unable to access it due to the hacker changing the email address, here are some steps you can take to attempt to recover your account:

    1. Use the Microsoft Account Recovery Form: Although you mentioned that the standard recovery form indicated your account does not exist, try accessing the recovery form again and ensure you are entering the correct information. You can find the recovery form at the Microsoft account recovery page.
    2. Check for Account Recovery Options: If you still have access to your original iCloud email, check if you can receive any recovery emails from Microsoft. Sometimes, Microsoft may send a verification link to the original email address.
    3. Contact Microsoft Support: Reach out to Microsoft Support directly for assistance. Explain your situation in detail, including that your account was hacked and the email was changed. They may have additional methods to verify your identity and help you regain access.
    4. Provide Proof of Ownership: When contacting support, be ready to provide any information that can prove your ownership of the account. This includes:
      • Old passwords you remember.
      • Purchase information related to Minecraft and Microsoft Store purchases.
      • Any other relevant details that can help verify your identity.
    5. Monitor Your iCloud Email: Keep an eye on your iCloud email for any communications from Microsoft or suspicious activity that may indicate further unauthorized access.
    6. Secure Your Other Accounts: Since your Microsoft account was compromised, consider reviewing the security of your other accounts linked to that email, including your iCloud account. Change passwords and enable two-factor authentication where possible.

If you continue to face issues, it might be beneficial to escalate the matter through Microsoft's official support channels for further assistance.

Absolute incompetence on Microsofts part, i too lost access to my Microsoft account last week.

My accounts email was changed to ki********@firsthidden.com and I could not recover it because of this.

When I raised my account recovery request I was asked to submit the account recovery form.

I provided all the details to the best of my knowledge and submitted it, only to be told that my accounts security settings were changed so they cannot recover my account.

Are they trying to say that hackers please come and take our users account, we can't give it back to them anyway.

I have lost access to my Office 365 subscription, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription, multiple Xbox Games purchases, OneDrive (dont really care because Google Drive is better) and Minecraft again which I am not too bothered about.

They asked me to create a new account, which I have now created a new account but what about my purchases and subscriptions?

When i reply to the email where they said my account cannot be recovered, asking about my purchases and subscriptions there is no reply. I have filled the form twice and gotten the same response both times.

If i try to reach a support agent all I get are useless bots, when I do get a live agent somehow they say "Fill the Form" when i tell them I filled the form and this is what they said, they say fill it again our higher team will look into it.

What higher team? What escalation? Does a trillion dollar company not have a way to recover a user account because of the way they have setup their security settings? Are they transparently saying "if you can hack it, you can keep it"

    Absolutely useless!
