How to activate Office 2024 with "no licence found"

Just bought the one-time Office 2024 and installed it to replace my old 2016 Office. Old applications all updated. When I open an existing Word doc, I can't edit. Banner across top reads "Activate Microsoft 365 to Create and Edit."

I didn't buy 365, I don't want it. If I click the Activate key on the main Word page where you create new files I get a button, "Already bought Office? Sign in." I sign in. "No license found."

On my Microsoft account page, my recent purchase is marked as completed and redeemed. What do I try next?

Microsoft 365 and Office | Install, redeem, activate | For home | MacOS

Hello !

On Mac, you'll have to uninstall Microsoft Office and then reinstall it from the Microsoft account dashboard.
Use these tutorials from Microsoft support : https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/uninstall-office-for-mac-eefa1199-5b58-43af-8a3d-b73dc1a8cae3 and https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/troubleshoot-office-for-mac-issues-by-completely-uninstalling-before-you-reinstall-ec3aa66e-6a76-451f-9d35-cba2e14e94c0

Once done, reboot your Mac and go to https://account.microsoft.com/services to download Office and reinstall it.

Please let me know if you have any other question !
