Dear Othon Guillen,

Welcome to Microsoft Q&A.

Based on your description, the issue where you are unable to highlight the complete text in a Word document while trying to copy and paste, here are some steps you can try:

  1. Switch to Print Layout

Go to View > Print Layout to ensure full editing capabilities.

  1. Check for Editing Restrictions

Navigate to Review > Restrict Editing.

If restrictions are enabled, remove them or request the password from the document owner.

  1. Disable Protected View

Go to File > Info > Protect Document and ensure it’s not in Protected View.

If prompted, click Enable Editing.

  1. Use Keyboard Shortcut

Press Ctrl+A to select all text. If this works, the issue is with mouse selection.

  1. Disable Add-ins

Go to File > Options > Add-ins > Manage COM Add-ins > Disable all, then restart Word.

  1. Repair Office

If none of the above works, run Quick Repair:

Control Panel > Programs > Microsoft Office > Change > Quick Repair.

If you press Ctrl+A and then Ctrl+C, are you then able to paste the content into a new document with Ctrl+V? If that works, although the selection doesn't display properly, you may have to update your video driver.

If you are unable to highlight complete text in a Word document while in copy and paste mode, it could be due to several reasons:

    1. Mouse or Trackpad Issues: Sometimes, the hardware used for highlighting may not be functioning properly. Ensure that your mouse or trackpad is working correctly.
    2. Word Application Glitch: The Word application may be experiencing a temporary glitch. Try closing and reopening the application or restarting your computer to see if the issue resolves.
    3. Document Protection: If the document is protected or restricted, it may limit your ability to highlight text. Check if the document has any restrictions applied.
    4. Clipboard Issues: If there are problems with the clipboard functionality, it may affect your ability to copy and paste. Ensure that other applications are not interfering with the clipboard.
    5. Add-ins Conflicts: Sometimes, third-party add-ins can interfere with the normal functioning of Word. Try disabling any add-ins to see if that resolves the issue.

If these suggestions do not resolve the problem, consider checking for updates to the Word application or reinstalling it as a last resort.
