Hello Nancy Canestrari,
Since this is a brand new laptop with no critical data on it yet, the most direct and technically sound path to resolve a lost administrator password, especially when the "Reset Password" or "I forgot my password" options are missing from the login screen, is to trigger a factory reset through the Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE). This issue typically arises during the Out-of-Box Experience (OOBE) if a local account was created with a typo, or if the machine has dropped network connectivity preventing a Microsoft Account or Entra ID credential update. Attempting to bypass Windows security to inject a new password violates security protocols and is often unreliable on BitLocker-encrypted drives which are standard on modern business laptops.
To restart the setup process, you need to access WinRE from the lock screen. While holding down the Shift key on your keyboard, select the Power icon in the bottom right corner of the screen and choose Restart. Continue holding Shift until the device reboots into a blue menu screen. Once in the Recovery Environment, navigate to Troubleshoot and select Reset this PC. Choose the option to Remove everything; since you have not been able to log in yet, this will simply clear the erroneous configuration and reboot the machine back to the initial language selection screen. You can then proceed through the setup again, ensuring you verify the password input carefully this time.
I hope you've found something useful here. If it helps you get more insight into the issue, it's appreciated to accept the answer. Should you have more questions, feel free to leave a message. Have a nice day!
