Sending, receiving, and organizing email in Outlook.com
Hi Lee,
Here’s the situation with New Outlook and Outlook on the web. The New Outlook desktop app is designed to bring all kinds of accounts together work, personal, Gmail and more into one place. Outlook on the web works differently it only shows the account you’re signed in with and any shared mailboxes you have permission to access.
Outlook.com used to allow linking other accounts like Gmail but that feature was removed. Microsoft now recommends using New Outlook on your computer or phone for those accounts or setting up forwarding if you want those emails to arrive in your Outlook.com inbox.
To make sure everything works as expected confirm you’re signing into the correct account on the web. Use outlook.office.com for work or school accounts and outlook.live.com for personal accounts. Keep in mind that New Outlook syncs all your accounts locally but they won’t automatically appear in the web version. If you need shared mailboxes on the web you’ll need permission and may have to add them using the “Open another mailbox” option. If you’re looking for third-party accounts like Gmail or Yahoo in Outlook.com that feature is no longer available.
If you want all your accounts in one place stick with New Outlook on desktop or mobile. If you need multiple mailboxes in the browser, Outlook on the web can show shared mailboxes but it can’t aggregate third-party accounts. And if something still seems off double-check that you’re signing into the right account type and URL. You can also review which accounts are added in New Outlook’s settings they don’t automatically show up online. If a shared mailbox is missing verify your permissions or try opening it through “Open another mailbox.”
Best regards,
Marcelo
