I unfortunately had my PC hacked and lost my Microsoft account. However, this account is marked as the admin account for my PC and when I try to manage it. I simply cannot as it requires me to login into an email that I do not have access to. I have since made a new account but I can't figure out how to transfer over admin to the new Microsoft account.

I am not too tech savvy so I am worried that if I signed out of it. I would lose administration abilities on my PC. Is there anyway to transfer admin to my new account without losing anything? My primary goal is to simply replace my current connected Microsoft account with my newly made one. To ensure I do not have to bother with the mess of re-downloading a bunch of files and important info.

Hello.

if you can still access via pin but not password, you would have to go through the following steps.

  1. Type netplwiz in the search on the taskbar and hit enter. When launched, click on "Add". Go ahead and log into a new Microsoft account
  2. When the above user is created, back to the main netplwiz page, double click on this new user, go to the Group Membership tab, make it administrator. Save the change.

3 Restart the computer. Sign into the new user you created in Step 1.

  1. If you have data at the old username folder, go to C:\users\old username folder, find them and copy them into C:\users\new username folder.
  2. Type sysdm.cpl in the search on the taskbar and hit enter, go to Advanced tab, click on the "Settings" button at the User Profile section. Then delete the old user profile.
  3. Launch netplwiz again, delete the old user from there.

To transfer administrative rights from your hacked Microsoft account to your new account on Windows 11, you can follow these steps:

    1. Create a Local Administrator Account: If you cannot access your Microsoft account, you can create a local administrator account. This can be done by booting into Safe Mode or using a recovery disk if necessary.
      • To create a local account, go to Settings > Accounts > Family & other users > Add someone else to this PC. Choose I don't have this person's sign-in information and then select Add a user without a Microsoft account.
      • Fill in the username and password for the new local account and set it as an administrator.
    2. Log into the Local Account: Log into the newly created local account.
    3. Change Account Type: Once logged in, go to Settings > Accounts > Family & other users. Find your new local account and change its account type to Administrator.
    4. Remove the Old Account: After confirming that your new account has administrative rights, you can remove the old account. Go to Settings > Accounts > Family & other users, select the old account, and choose Remove.
    5. Backup Important Data: Before making any changes, ensure you back up any important data from your old account if possible.

By following these steps, you should be able to regain administrative access without losing your data. If you are unsure or uncomfortable with these steps, consider seeking help from a tech-savvy friend or a professional.
