I have a Microsoft 365 Family Subscription. I downloaded the Office Suite and all the applications are fine, except for Outlook. When I try to open it, it is asking me to sign into an old work account, not my family account. How do I remove the old work account so I can log in to the correct one?

Hello!

I'm Yasllame. I'm happy to help and clarify.

You need to remove the old corporate account from Windows and Outlook itself, as Outlook uses the credentials saved in the system. Follow the steps below, in order:

  1. Remove the Windows work account

Open Settings

Go to Accounts > Work or school access

Select the old work account

Click Disconnect

Restart your computer

  1. Remove the Outlook account

Open Outlook (if it opens)

Go to File > Account Settings > Account Settings

Select the work account

Click Remove

If Outlook doesn't open correctly, continue to step 3.

  1. Clear saved credentials

Open Control Panel

Go to Credential Manager

Under Windows Credentials, remove entries related to:

Outlook

Microsoft Office

Microsoft 365

Old work account

  1. Confirm the correct account

Go to https://account.microsoft.com

Sign in with the personal account associated with Microsoft 365 Family

Verify that the subscription appears as active

  1. Open Outlook Again

When opening, log in only with your personal/family account.

Ignore any requests for a corporate account.

Important note:

If this corporate account has already been used on this computer, Windows and Office tend to reuse it automatically until it is manually removed.

I hope this information has been helpful! If you need anything else, I'm here.

Sincerely,

To log in to the correct Outlook account and remove the old work account, you can follow these steps:

  1. Sign out of Outlook: Open Outlook, go to File, and select Account. From there, choose Sign out.
  2. Remove the old account: After signing out, go back to the File menu, select Account, and then look for Switch Account. Here, you can find the old work account and select Sign out.
  3. Clear cached credentials: You may need to clear any cached credentials that are stored on your computer. To do this:
    • Open Control Panel and select Credential Manager.
    • Under the Windows Credentials tab, find any entries related to your old work account and select Remove.
  4. Log in with your family account: Now, restart Outlook and you should be prompted to sign in. Use your Microsoft 365 Family Subscription credentials to log in.

By following these steps, you should be able to remove the old work account and log in to your correct Outlook account.
